Alpaca is a wool like fiber from the homonym animal raised in South America in theAndean regions of Perù, Bolivia and Chile. Alpaca wool is extremely strong and resistant, with a very high thermal insulation power (almost seven times more than sheep wool), does not contain lanolin so is naturally non-allergic. Alpaca fibers are extremely silky ans shimmering, light and thin, very similar to the cashmere ones. Alpaca comes in 22 natural shades.The estimated production per animal per year is about 2,5 kg for females and almost 4 kg for males.
